ELKINS, W.Va. – Returning home for a Mountain East Conference clash, Davis & Elkins men's tennis picked up a key 4-1 win over Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon. The match was the first to be played at the Katherine Thomas Tennis Center since 2022.
The Senators (7-5) claimed the doubles point behind strong efforts from their top two pairs. Justus Petersilie and Philipp Fedorczuk cruised to a 6-3 win at No. 1, while Viktor Yanev and Christo Wirahadipoernomo dominated their match 6-1 at No. 2. Despite a close loss at No. 3, the early point gave D&E a crucial edge.
In singles, D&E locked in three straight-set wins to clinch the match. Duarte Correia delivered a gritty three-set win at No. 3 (6-7, 6-3, 6-4), and both Wirahadipoernomo (6-1, 6-1 at No. 4) and Santiago Ordonez (6-0, 6-1 at No. 5) dismantled their opponents. The only loss came at the top court, where Yanev dropped a three-set battle to Carlos Alcala.
