BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College men's tennis earned a convincing 6-1 victory over Chestnut Hill College on Sunday at the West Virginia Wesleyan College tennis courts, picking up their second straight win in Mountain East Conference play.
The Senators swept doubles play to secure the early point and continued their momentum with five straight-set wins in singles competition.
In doubles, Justus Petersilie and Philipp Fedorczuk outlasted their opponents in a tight No. 1 matchup, 7-5. Sean Maphosa and Duarte Correia breezed to a 6-3 win at No. 2, while Viktor Yanev and Christopher Wirahadipoernomo dominated their No. 3 court with a 6-2 victory.
Yanev cruised at No. 1 singles, dropping just two games in a 6-2, 6-0 win over François Relecom. Wirahadipoernomo followed suit with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 4, and Petersilie turned in another commanding effort at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2.
Santiago Ordonez sealed the team win with a 6-4, 7-5 result at No. 6 singles. Fedorczuk added to the tally with a gritty 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 victory in the No. 3 slot.
The lone setback for D&E came at No. 2 singles, where Duarte Correia fell in a battle, 0-6, 6-7 (0), to Alexandre Lefebvre.
