CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College men's tennis team fell to the University of Charleston on Friday afternoon, 7-0, in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) road contest.
The Golden Eagles claimed the doubles point with a clean sweep of all three courts. The Senators' top pair, Justus Petersilie and Philipp Fedorczuk, were edged out 6-4, while Viktor Yanev and Christo Wirahadipoernomo dropped their match at No. 2 doubles, 6-2. At the No. 3 spot, Duarte Correia and Filippo Buffo battled but ultimately fell 6-3.
In singles action, Charleston maintained its momentum, taking all six matches in straight sets. Despite a strong start, Miguel Correa pushed his opponent at No. 3 singles with a tight 7-5 first set, but dropped the second 6-1. Yanev and Fedorczuk, playing at the top two positions, both fell by identical 6-3, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-1 scores, respectively.
