WILSON, N.C. – The Davis & Elkins men's tennis team was swept by Barton College on Thursday, dropping all nine matches in singles and doubles. The Bulldogs did not lose a set as they dominated the Senators from the start.
Viktor Yanev and Philipp Fedorczuk pushed their opponents to tiebreakers in the closest matches of the day, while the rest of the lineup failed to win more than five games in any match.
"This was a step up in competition for us today, and we saw a team that was locked in and ready," head coach Mark Walters said. "Barton has beaten a couple of Division I programs this year and has wins over some top-20 Division II teams, so they have a solid squad. It was good for us to experience this level and understand the grind and discipline required to compete at a higher level."
