ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins College senior Linzey Allard has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Player of the Year Watchlist for the Atlantic Region, the organization announced this week.
Allard, a standout first baseman for the Senators, is one of up to 15 student-athletes selected from each of the NCAA's eight Division II regions — Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West. The prestigious watchlist is compiled by the elected members of the NFCA Division II All-American Committee, which includes one head coach representing each region.
To be considered, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member of the NFCA.
Through 31 games this season, Allard is posting a .405 batting average and a 1.216 OPS. She has started 29 games and racked up 45 hits in 111 at-bats, including nine doubles and 10 home runs. Allard has also driven in 32 runs, scored 30 times, and tallied 84 total bases, resulting in a .757 slugging percentage and a .459 on-base percentage.
She has walked nine times, been hit by two pitches, and successfully stolen seven bases on nine attempts.
Allard's consistent offensive production and veteran leadership have played a crucial role in the Senators' success so far this season.
The NFCA Player of the Year Watchlist will be narrowed down later this spring as postseason awards and All-America honors approach.
