WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, securing a 7-0 sweep over West Liberty University in a Mountain East Conference matchup.
The Senators (3-2, 1-0 MEC) wasted no time asserting their control, taking all three doubles matches to earn the opening point. The duo of Duarte Correia and Sean Maphosa rolled to a 6-1 victory at No. 1, while Philipp Fedorczuk and Justus Petersilie matched the scoreline at No. 2. Christo Wirahadipoernomo and Viktor Yanev completed the doubles sweep with a commanding 6-0 win at No. 3.
D&E carried its momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Yanev set the tone at No. 1, blanking Frederico Murrau 6-0, 6-0. Correia followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2, and Santiago Ordonez cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3.
Wirahadipoernomo and Petersilie posted identical 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, while Filippo Buffo wrapped up the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
