UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Davis & Elkins College track and field team had a strong showing at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge, hosted by Penn State University on Saturday at the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track, with four school records falling in the highly competitive meet.
Freshman Tristan Blatt highlighted the day with a runner-up finish in the men's 800 meters, clocking 1:52.31 to set a new school record. Ryan Rasco (1:55.88) finished ninth, while Jackson Gibson (1:57.31) and Cooper Gibson (1:58.32) also placed in the top 20.
In the men's mile, Slate Swiger finished 12th with a school-record time of 4:11.59, while Cooper Gibson (4:12.76) and Jackson Gibson (4:15.95) followed closely in 15th and 16th place, respectively.
On the women's side, Lauren Twyman shattered the school record in the mile, running 5:04.85 to place 15th. Ella Hesson (5:13.09) finished 24th. Twyman also took 14th in the 800 meters (2:20.39), just behind Cameryn Wheeler, who placed 13th and set a new school record with a time of 2:20.35.
The women's 3000 meters saw another school record fall, as Savanna Hardman finished fourth overall in 9:59.44. Lydia Falkenstein placed eighth in 10:08.51, adding another strong performance for the Senators.
