Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins dropped its first home game of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 92–71 to Pitt-Johnstown inside the McDonnell Center.
The Senators (2–5) hung tight early, trailing just 43–36 at halftime, but the Mountain Cats used a strong inside presence and a decisive rebounding advantage to pull away in the second half.
Vegas Evans provided an early spark, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting with three rebounds and a block in just 13 minutes. Tristan Starks added 10 points and five rebounds, knocking down two threes. Matthew Gray also reached double figures with 11 points and three made threes.
Dontrell Jenkins finished with seven points, five assists, four steals and four rebounds, while Noah Adamczyk posted nine points and seven boards. Darrius Roach chipped in 10 points.
D&E finished with 15 offensive rebounds and 22 second-chance points but shot 28-for-76 from the field and 6-for-25 from beyond the arc. Pitt-Johnstown countered with 58 points in the paint and a 44–35 edge on the glass.
The Senators trailed by just six at the break before UPJ opened the second half with a run that pushed the margin into double figures for good.
Davis & Elkins returns to Mountain East Conference play on Wednesday, Dec. 3, hosting Fairmont State at 7:30 p.m. inside the McDonnell Center.
