Box Score ERIE, Pa. — Davis & Elkins opened its season Sunday afternoon at the Atlantic Region Challenge, falling 67–55 to Slippery Rock at the Highmark Events Center.
Jahniya Marion led the Senators with 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting, while Briyanna Sapp added 10 points and six rebounds. Kylie Morris finished with nine points and eight boards, and Kaitlyn Parker anchored the glass with a game-high 14 rebounds.
Slippery Rock used a fast start, taking a 23–16 lead after the first quarter and holding a 32–26 advantage at the half. Despite 19 offensive rebounds and 30 points in the paint, D&E was unable to close the gap as Slippery Rock pushed its lead to double digits in the third quarter.
D&E shot 23-for-71 from the field and forced eight steals, but Slippery Rock countered with 36 points in the paint and 22 fast-break points.
The Senators continue play on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa.
