Frostburg, Md. – The Davis & Elkins Track teams finished up their MEC Championships with a strong showing highlighted by
Jan Thewes winning the conference title in the 3000m steeple. In total the Senators had nine podium (Top 3 All-MEC) finishes for the team. The Senators also broke five school records in the championships.
Thewes time of 9:01.62 broke his own school record and was his third NCAA Provisional time of the season. Thewes is currently ranked 22
nd in all of NCAA D2 in the event. He will have a couple more opportunities to continue to improve his time. The NCAA can take anywhere from 18 to 24 in the event to the national championships.
