Elkins, W. Va. - Davis & Elkins College has appointed Julie Danner as the new Head Women's Volleyball Coach, it was announced today by Interim Director of Athletics Jeff Eisen.

Danner joins D&E with an impressive background in both playing and coaching volleyball. Danner served as the Assistant Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach at King University, where she played a key role in mentoring student-athletes, planning practices, and contributing to the team's success. She also had a stint at King as the Interim Head Coach. 

"We're very excited to have Julie joining us as our head women's volleyball coach," said Interim Athletic Director Jeff Eisen. "She will bring great energy and work ethic, the ability to relate to the team members, and the leadership necessary to move our program forward."

Danner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Mathematics from King University in Bristol, TN. A standout volleyball player at King, Danner's career includes a string of notable achievements. She was honored as a member of the Conference Carolinas All-Conference First Team and the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship Most Valuable Player in 2020. In 2019, Danner's stellar contributions earned her recognition as an AVCA honorable mention All-American and a place on the AVCA All-Southern Region team and the D2CCA All-Southern Region first team.  She was also the 2019 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and was a Conference Carolinas All-Conference First Team selection, while in 2018 she was named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year.

Danner will start her tenure at Davis & Elkins on April 22.
