Stephenson Breaks His Third School Record to Lead The Way at the Spire Collegiate Games

Geneva, Ohio – The Davis & Elkins track team participated in the Spire Collegiate Games on Saturday. The meet lasted nearly 12-hours long and was one of biggest track meets (total competitors) the Senators have ever competed in. The meet featured nearly 50 colleges and close to 15 Division one programs.

Highlights on the day included:
Thijs Terlouw winning the 3000m (8:31) and teammate Jan Thewes (8:38) finishing 4th place.

The men's mile race was a program best race in many ways. Charlie Stephenson (4:12.95) led a D&E charge of four Senators under the previous school record in the event with Jackson Gibson (4:13.29), Cooper Gibson (4:13.31), and Carter McKenna (4:14.39) following closely behind. The Senators finished 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th in the loaded mile field of 87 competitors.
The freshman Stephenson now has broken the Mile, 3K, and 5K records this indoor season.
Ryan Rasco (1:54.91) and Jackson Gibson (1:55.20) ran the second and third fastest times in program history in the men's 800.
Lydia Falkenstein improved her 3000m time (10:25) to finish 7th in the event. The time is 3rd best in program history.

Lauren Twyman (5:18) and Cameryn Wheeler (5:19) ran the second and third fastest times in program history in the women's mile with both just missing top 10 finishes in a field of 75 competitors.

Next Up:
The Senators is a trip to Huntington, WV for the two day MEC Championships February 17th-18th. A list of qualifiers and a championship meet preview will be posted to the site on Thursday February 16th.
