WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Davis & Elkins track teams competed at the prestigious 57th annual Colonial Relays this past weekend.
The Senators results included two school records, three all-time second-best times in program history, two performances that currently are ranked in the top-5 in the Atlantic region, and twelve personal best times.
Meet highlights for the women included Anya Miller's school record in the 1500 (4:47) which was good enough for a twelfth-place finish amongst seventy-nine competitors in the unseeded section, while Lauren Twyman ran a 4:49. Lauren Twyman's time in the 800 (2:20) was also good for a school record. In the 5k, Kloe Littleman ran the second-best time in program history (18:07) to finish sixth in the unseeded section, while Savanna Hardman ran it in 18:41. Roxanne McFarlin ran the 400 in 59.58.
For the men, Carter McKenna had a strong showing in the 5k. His 14:30 was second-best in program history, ranks third currently in the region, twenty-sixth in NCAA DII, and he finished twelfth in the championship section out of nearly 100 competitors. Jackson Gibson (15:05) and Thijs Terlouw (15:27) also had strong showings in the 5k. In the 10k, Gabe Conder (31:04) ran the second-best time in program history, currently ranks fourth in the region, and finished fifteenth in the championship section. Henry Schmidt (31:55), Bastian Luthmann (32:20), and Pablo Velt (33:09) also had strong 10k performances. Jan Thewes (9:30), Konnor Allison (9:38), and Tyler Weiford (10:17) had solid 3k Steeplechase runs. Also putting in solid work for the Senators were Juan Amann (4:00) and Scott Barker (4:13) in the 1500, Martin Lucas (1:56) in the 800, and Jonathan Griffin (50.57) in the 400.
The Senators are back in action next weekend with a split squad meet when they compete at Frostburg State on Friday and a few qualifiers compete the next day at the George Mason Invitational.
