WARREN, Ohio -- Davis & Elkins finished third in the 2023 Mountain East Conference Golf Championships at Avalon Lakes Golf Course as Marina Noti finished as medalist runner-up.

Noti shot a first-round 81 and found herself nine strokes off the lead (tied 9th) and her team in fourth place. The Senators' freshman fired a second-round 67 (-5) to grab the individual lead and help her team move into third place.

Heading into the third round, Noti held a one stroke edge over the University of Charleston's Iciar Canalejo, 148-149. Glenville's Lexis Fickel, who led after the first round, was two strokes back at 150. Fickel shot a final round 78 to finish at 228, while Noti and Canalejo each shot 80 to finish at 228 and 229, respectively. In a one-hole playoff, Fickel won the tiebreaker over Noti for medalist honors. All three were named to the MEC All-Tournament Team. Joining the trio on the All-Tournament Team were Hailey Hendershott of Glenville State and Lucia Martin of Charleston.

Glenville State won the MEC Title for the second consecutive year with the three-day total of 936 (314, 306, 316). Charleston finished runner-up at 938 (314, 305, 319). D&E held tight in third with a 1025 total (355, 315, 355). Wheeling finished fourth at 1044 (354, 330, 360). West Liberty and Notre Dame rounded out the top six teams competing in the final round. Fairmont State and Concord also competed in the first two rounds but were not able to advance with the top six teams.

Noti shot rounds of 81, 67, and 80. Her second-round score smashed both school and MEC Tournament records for low rounds. Teammate Gadea Melgarejo shot a three-day total of 251 (88, 78, 85). Grace Bronkella shot a 271 (92, 84, 95), Madelyn St. Mary shot a 279 (98, 86, 95), and Kana Hayakawa shot a 290 (94, 95, 101).
