Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – Davide Materazzi's pair of goals in the Senators' matchup against perennial power Charleston were the deciding factor as D&E picked up its fourth win of the young season.
D&E and Charleston played to a 1-1 draw in the first half. Charleston's goal came earlier in the half on an Eduardo Barros goal in the seventh minute. Materazzi provided the Senators' score in the twentieth minute. Luis Maestro assisted Barros, while Bruno Rivero provided the assist on Materazzi's goal.
A back-and-forth second half was broken open in the seventy-eighth minute when Charleston committed a penalty in the box. Materazzi drove home a penalty kick that would prove to be the game-winner.
D&E improves to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Mountain East with the win.
Charleston falls to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the MEC.
The Senators have a week off before hitting the road for another MEC matchup with Frostburg on Wednesday, September 14.
