BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- The Senators got off to a hot start when they traveled to West Virginia Wesleyan College today by taking the doubles point to start the match. The team of
Viktor Yanev and
Andrew Shand took care of business with a 6-2 victory at 1st Doubles while
Hussain Hamide and
Vinicius Azeredo clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at 3rd doubles.
D&E carried that momentum into singles with some impressive starts. Senior
Andrew Shand won his match at 4th singles with a 6-0 6-4 and Sophomore
Vinicius Azeredo won his match convincingly at 6th singles with a score of 6-2 6-1 to put the Senators up 3-0 in the overall match. The fourth and clinching match victory was provided by
Viktor Yanev with a great battle at 1st singles winning 6-3 2-6 6-3. The Senators also added another victory through a great match at 2nd singles which was won by
Taiki Umeda with a score of 6-7 6-3 6-3. The Senators ended up knocking off the bobcats with a final score of 5-2 and look to bring these winning ways when they take on Fairmont State University at home on April 16th.
