Pinehurst, NC. – The Davis & Elkins women's golf team competed in the Brown Golf Invitational hosted by Gannon University in Pinehurst, North Carolina Friday. The Senators finished in sixth place. Freshman Michelle Guerra Landa and transfer Sierra Knowlton made their Senators debut this weekend after joining the program in January.
The 36-hole event would be completed on Friday with inclement weather forecasted for Saturday. In round one in the morning, the Senators were led by Michelle Guerra Landa and Dorothy Romanek, who both scored an 88. A pair of 90s by Lucrezia Speranza and Sierra Knowlton totaled the team score to a 356.
The second round saw a 17-shot team score improvement, with each player bettering their morning score. Landa and Romanek led the team again with 82 and 83 respectively. Speranza and Knowlton tied again in the afternoon with 87, for a 339 round two total. Leaving the Senators in sixth place of nine teams and a 695-tournament total score.

Next up for the women's golf team is a trip to Bridgeport, W.Va. to compete in the Fairmont State Invitational, a one-day event held on March 22 at the Bridgeport Country Club.
