ELKINS, W.Va. – Alasdair Forsythe was named the interim golf coach for the Davis & Elkins men's and women's programs this week.
Forsythe has spent over a decade with the D&E golf program in various capacities and takes on the interim role for the departed J.D. Lamm, who accepted the head men's and women's golf coaching position at Wingate this summer.
Forsythe previously served a stint as the head golf coach at D&E before transitioning full-time to the accounting office on campus. He's as an assistant coach for both programs over the past few seasons while also working as the Assistant Director of Accounting at the College.
"I'd like to thank Rosemary Thomas, Chris Wood, and Bob Hardman for giving me the opportunity to build on the tremendous success that JD brought to both the men's and women's programs over the last few years," Forsythe said. "I hope to use my experiences to enhance the student-athlete experience while creating an environment that allows the students to grow, achieve their goals, and realize their ambitions."
Forsythe was part of several team and individual wins, a Freshman of the Year award and regional ranking in the Midwest region as head coach. While assisting, he worked individually with the D&E lineup throughout the 2020-21 season, including at the NCAA DII National Championships in Florida.
The D&E men finished sixth nationally, advancing to match play with a starting lineup full of All-MEC performers. For the women, he provided insights and coaching to
Dorothy Romanek over the final eight holes in her first collegiate title at the Crofton Invitational last March.
Actively involved in all facets of the program, Forsythe maintains relationships and stays in touch with nearly all the D&E golf alumni over the past decade. He was selected to hood five former Senators at graduation over his time in Elkins.
Forsythe and his wife, Lowe Del Aviles, have a daughter (Elizabeth) and reside in Elkins.
