BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins men's tennis junior
Alvaro Legoinha earned All-MEC Second Team laurels, the league announced Friday after unveiling its all-conference teams and top honors on Friday.
Legoinha, a Porto, Portugal native, went 3-4 in singles play and 4-4 in doubles action on the season.
Charleston swept the league's top honors as John Giesberts earned Player of the Year, while teammate Frantisek Pirek nabbed Freshman of the Year. Golden Eagles coach Matt Santen was voted the conference's Coach of the Year.
Legoinha recorded wins in singles play on March 26, April 7 and April 16. In doubles action, Legoinha won a stretch of four consecutive matches, including a win with partner
Jacob Johnson and three with
Obert Matthew Mulyadi.
The All-MEC teams and awards are selected by a vote of the league's coaches.
