THE OPENING TIP
Davis & Elkins men's basketball is set to return to action for the first time since January 23 when the Senators visit Wheeling for a 4:30 PM tipoff. The Senators will have to run a scheduling gauntlet over the next several weeks after moving their previous three games to later in the month.
Wheeling, which has had its fair share of postponements, returned to action on February 3 in an 85-77 road win at West Virginia Wesleyan. The win was the first for new head coach Chris Richardson at Wheeling.

DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
- Sam Rolle IV scored or assisted on nearly 60% of the Senators' field goals last time out in a 92-81 road loss at West Virginia State. The breakout freshman tossed in 18 points, adding 10 assists, three steals and three rebounds against the Yellow Jackets.
- Breland Walton has provided a viable inside presence for D&E this season, ranking second in the MEC in rebounding (10.8). The junior has scored in double digits in five of the last six games, averaging 18.75 points/game over the last four outings.
- Dealing with some injuries over the last few weeks, the Senators have had limited depth and experience off the bench. D&E played just seven players last time out against WV State.
- As the schedule currently stands, the Senators will play three times per week over the final three weeks of the regular season in February, taking the floor each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
- Marcus Fleming (16.2 PPG, 9.8 RPG) and Gyasi Powell (13.0 PPG, 2.8 RPG) have also been steady forces in the starting lineup for D&E this season, appearing in all six games.
SCOUTING WHEELING
- Playing for the first time since January 20, Wheeling placed four in double figures during an 85-77 road win at West Virginia Wesleyan last time out. Jarrett Haines fired in a game-high 21 points with Jay Gentry adding a season-high 19 markers, including four three-point field goals.
- Head coach Chris Richardson, in his first season, posting his first career victory against the Bobcats. Richardson spent the previous six seasons as an assistant coach at Central Missouri.
- Jordan Reid, who has played in three of the Cardinals' five games, leads the squad with 22.7 points/game. That scoring average would rank second in the MEC if he had enough games to qualify.
- Wheeling has dealt with uncertainty in the basketball schedule more than most teams in the league, playing just five games on the season. The Cardinals had two games postponed after opening the season against Notre Dame (Ohio) and just returned from a stretch where five-straight contests were halted.
