THE OPENING TIP 
Davis & Elkins men's basketball hits the road to face 20th-ranked Charleston (W.Va.) on Wednesday in the second meeting of the season between the two sides. Looking to avenge an overtime loss to Concord, Davis & Elkins takes on a Charleston team that has reeled off 10 consecutive wins.
 
The Golden Eagles posted a 101-85 road win against West Virginia Wesleyan last time out and enter the week atop the MEC South Division.

  • How It Happened: Battling back from a 22-point second half deficit, Davis & Elkins worked its way to within five during an 83-74 defeat to Charleston (W.Va.).

DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
  • Davis & Elkins has gone from three games this week to one after a series of schedule changes. Late Monday morning, the announcement was made postponing the Senators road game at Alderson Broaddus. On Tuesday, the Senators learned that Saturday's home game with Glenville State was canceled after the Pioneers started a pause on winter sports.
  • Gyasi Powell lit up the scoresheet with a career-high 34 points, including seven shots from deep, to help the Senators battle back in the second half against Concord. Powell's 34 points are tied for the third-highest single game scoring output of any player in the Mountain East this season.
  • Breland Walton is coming off his second consecutive double-double, dropping in 29 points last time out against the Mountain Lions. Walton has zipped up to fourth in the league in scoring average (21.2) and second in rebounding (11.4).
  • Kyle Leslie has made at least one three-point field goal in seven straight contests. Leslie has logged 30 minutes or more in each of the last two games for D&E.
