BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Following the completion of the fall semester, Davis & Elkins stands in second place in the race for the 2021-2022 Mountain East Conference Commissioner's Cup.
Bolstered by a regular-season title in men's soccer and a runner-up finish by the women's cross country team at the MEC Championships, D&E compiled 50.5 of a possible 72 total points and a .702 All-Sports Rating.
The University of Charleston leads the MEC so far after winning titles in men's and women's cross country and men's golf and a MEC tournament title in men's soccer. Trailing D&E, in third is Frostburg State. Frostburg shared the conference title in football and won a divisional title in women's soccer. In fourth, Concord won a tournament title in women's soccer.
The standings are compiled utilizing an "all-sports rating." This rating is determined by a formula that awards points to a school for its regular season finish equal to the number of teams per sport sponsored by the MEC, and then divided by the number of sports offered by the institution. The final rating is a percentage of points acquired against the number of points available
(average percentile finish in the standings of each sport sponsored by an institution).
