DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
  • D&E scored its most points in a game since November 2015 last time out against Frostburg State. The Senators racked up 57 points at the half, including 16 points from Marcus Fleming, in the opening 20 minutes.
  • Fleming recorded a team-high 23 points (9-13 FG), along with 10 rebounds. He was one of three players to secure a double-double in the season-opening win, along with Breland Walton (21 pts, 11 reb) and Same Rolle IV (15 pts, 12 ast).
  • Walton worked his way back from an earlier injury to suit up for the Senators and found his way into the starting lineup. He was one of three transfers to see playing time on Thursday night (Fleming, Bryton Bissainthe).
  • The Senators shot nearly 63 percent from the field, going 12-of-22 from beyond the arc, during a back-and-forth 81-78 win in Fairmont last November. The victory was the first for the Senators as a member of the MEC.
  • D&E went just 3-11 on the road last season, including the win at Fairmont State.
  • Gyasi Powell fired home 19 points in his collegiate debut, logging 32 minutes. Senior guard Myles Monroe added 13 points in 36 minutes, marking the 19th double-digit scoring game of his career at Davis & Elkins.
  • The Senators owned the interior on Thursday, outscoring Frostburg State by a 54-38 margin in the paint.

SCOUTING FAIRMONT STATE
  • The Falcons are under the direction of second-year head coach Tim Koenig, who guided the squad to a berth in the NCAA Tournament last season with 23 victories.
  • Battling back from a slow start, Fairmont State placed eight players in double digits in a convincing 110-85 win in Buckhannon against West Virginia Wesleyan. Cole VanHandorf paced the Falcons' scoring output with 18 points in the victory.
  • Along with VanHandorf, the Falcons also return all-conference selection Dale Bonner. Bonner, who was also a second team D2CCA All-Atlantic Region selection, notched 15 points and added three steals in the season-opening victory last Thursday.
  • Seth Younkin and Ilisia Washington dropped in 13 points each for the Falcons last time out as part of a deep and experienced squad.
