PREVIEW: D&E Men Aim for Final Push With Pivotal Matchup Wednesday

THE OPENING TIP
Closing the home portion of its season on Wednesday night, desperation is beginning to set in for the Senators as they look to vault themselves into the MEC Tournament picture. Currently one spot outside the top 10, Davis & Elkins will face the team directly above them in the league standings, welcoming Concord to the McDonnell Center at 7:30 PM in the final home game of the season.

  • How It Happened: Davis & Elkins got off to a hot start, but could not fend off a balanced Concord lineup in an 80-63 road loss at the Carter Center in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play.
  
DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES 
  • Donte Doleman logged the tenth 20-point scoring output of the season last time out against West Virginia State. He dropped 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting and played all 40 minutes.
  • Doleman ranks eighth in the MEC in scoring average, posting 18.1 points/game. His production upticks during conference games, as the senior ranks third in the league in scoring average at 19.1 points/game, just behind Daniel Alexander (19.7 – Frostburg State) and Phil Bledsoe (19.6 – Glenville State).
  • The Senators are fifth in the league in forced turnovers/game (13.42).
  • Erkam Kiris has emerged as another solid threat on both ends of the floor for D&E, averaging 17.8 points/game, 7.2 rebounds/game and one block/game over the last 10 contests.
  • Mandela Baledrokadroka remains sixth in the league in total assists (96) and assists/game (4.2).
  • Myles Monroe missed last game after putting up 25 points against Charleston (W. Va.) on February 12. He also fired in 22 points against Concord in the first meeting of the season.
  • Davis & Elkins ranks fifth in the MEC in three-point field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to convert at a 34.1% clip.
 
SCOUTING CONCORD
  • Concord has dropped three of its last four games, including a 116-74 decision to West Liberty last time out.
  • Malik Johnson is one of five players to average double figures in a balanced Concord lineup. He paces the team with 13.3 points/game, adding 4.5 rebounds/game.
  • Trey Brisco posted 18 points and passed out four assists in the first meeting against D&E this season, an 80-63 win for the Mountain Lions.
  • Martin Kelly, Jr. leads the team with 138 rebounds, also adding 11.4 points/game.
  • Wednesday marks the final road contest of the year for Concord, which ends the season with three consecutive games at the Carter Center.
  • The Mountain Lions have a 1-12 mark in road games this season, with their lone win coming at Bluefield State on November 12.
