Alvaro Legoinha avenged a three-set loss in a fall tournament to Joao Martins of Fairmont State, picking up D&E's only singles win at #3 singles on Wednesday at the Thomas Tennis Center.
The Falcons started out with a sweep of doubles.
Cordel Bostic and
Jacob Bowman rallied back to 5-4, but were unable to tie the match up at #3 doubles in a 6-4 loss.
The Senators had to play up without their #1 singles player, but
Alvaro Legoinha stepped up after dropping the first set 6-2. Legoinha held off a late charge to win the second set 6-4, and won the deciding tiebreaker 10-7.
Mason Schoonover's match also went the distance at #6 singles, but fell 10-8 in the super tiebreak for a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 final.
The Senators will open GMAC play on Friday at defending conference champion Hillsdale. Match is slated for a 1 PM start in Michigan.
