The Davis & Elkins College Senators Softball team played eight games on their spring break trip to Florida. The Senators opened the trip with a doubleheader against Flagler College, falling to the Saints 5-1, and 5-4.
In Game 1,
Sara Tobin pitched three strong innings in relief, allowing just one run.
Ryn Boelter had two hits, and
Amy Fincham scored the only run for the Senators on
Jordan Crawford's fielder's choice.
In Game 2,
Jade Allee pitched a complete game, allowing just two earned runs.
Kelsie Millner went 2-4, and
Alyssa Cairns went 2-4 with an RBI.
In the doubleheader against Rollins, the Tars pitching stifled the Senators offense in 5-0 and 8-0 results.
Katelyn Cobb pitched a scoreless inning in relief in game one, and
Jordan Crawford had the only hit for the Senators.
In game 2,
Alyssa Cairns,
Brittany Wade, and
Amy Fincham had hits in the 8-0 loss.
The Senators then traveled on to St. Petersburg to take on the Eckerd College Tritons.
Game 1 required extra-innings, with Eckerd coming through in a 4-3 win.
Haley Grindstaff pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs, and
Brittany Wade went 1-3 with a double.
In Game 2, the Senators jumped out to a lead with a three-run first inning.
Jordan Crawford went 2-4 with a double and an RBI.
Ryn Boelter had two hits and an RBI, and
Jade Allee had an RBI double. Eckerd struck back and took Game 2 with a score of 7-4.
The Senators finished the trip with a doubleheader against Trinity Baptist. The Senators lost the first game 10-8, but the offense came alive in a 17-0 victory in Game 2.
Jade Allee went 3-4,
Katie Manson had 3 RBIs, and
Rhetta Persinger had 2 RBIs in Game 1.
In Game 2, the lively Senator bats came out, as four players hit home runs in the 17-0 victory.
Alyssa Cairns was a double away from the cycle, finishing with 4 RBIs.
Brittany Wade hit a home run, and
Rhetta Persinger had a home run and 3 RBIs.
Ryn Boelter was the other Senator to clear the fence.
Jordan Crawford went 3-4, with two triples and two RBIs.
Katie Manson went 3-4 with a double, scoring two runs.
Jade Allee pitched a complete game shutout in the victory to close out the trip.
The Senators will travel to Glenville State tomorrow for a doubleheader with games at 2 and 4 PM.
