Davis & Elkins Softball was on the wrong end of two 5-4 games this afternoon against Tusculum University in Tennessee.

The Senators led throughout Game 1, but the Pioneers scored four runs in the 7th inning to take the win.

Haley Grindstaff pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs.

Ryn Boelter went 3-4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Alyssa Cairns went 2-4 with an RBI double. Katie Manson added two hits as well.

In Game 2, the Senators tried to force a late rally, but fell just short in the 7th inning.

Alyssa Cairns had two of the four RBIs, and Amy Fincham went 2-3. Jordan Crawford added RBIs in both games of the doubleheader.

As a team, the Senators stole four bases, and Jade Allee pitched a complete game in the 5-4 loss.

The Senators will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Florida for their Spring Break trip. They open with a doubleheader scheduled for 1 and 3 PM at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL.
