SALEM, W.Va. - The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team fell to the Tigers of Salem University 84-81 on the road this evening in non-conference play.
The Senators started off slow and the Tigers carried a 45-30 lead into halftime.
After the break, the Senators cut the difference to five points within ten minutes into the second half.
The Senators forced a late rally, climbing to within three late, but the Tigers held them off to win the close battle by a score of 84-81.
Marcus Friend had a team-high 18 points. Friend also had three assists in the game.
Trevor English had a double-double for the Senators with 17 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Erkam Kiris, who collected five rebounds and 13 points for Davis & Elkins.
Senior Logan Phillips was the leader in assists. Philips had three in today's game, while junior Tyler Twyman counted four steals throughout the game.
The Senators finished with a 46.3 shot percentage and made 10 out of 18 Free Throw attempts.
The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team will be back on the court on Thursday against Ohio Valley University at home. The game is set for 5:30 PM in the McDonnell Center.
