AROUND THE LEAGUE
DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
  • Saturday's contest is the sixth for the Senators. Davis & Elkins is one of three teams in the MEC to play at least five games to this point in the 2019-20 campaign.
  • The Senators are 1-5 against Fairmont State, dating back to the 2010-11 season. The last meeting between the squads was a high-scoring affair, as D&E dropped a 134-110 decision to the fourth-ranked Falcons back in 2016. Kevin Bracy-Davis led the Senators with 27 points in that contest, as the senior recorded his fourth double-double of the year, finishing with 10 rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
  • D&E went 2-1 in its opening homestand, defeating Ohio Valley and Clarion before losing to the Vulcans.
  • The Vulcans held Donte Doleman in check offensively last time out, but the senior guard continues to pace the Senators in scoring (13.6 points/game) and minutes (30.8 min/game).
  • Myles Monroe has scored double figures in three of five games this season, including a 12-point effort in each of the last two contests. He is converting on 51.5% of his shots from the floor and has provided a strong ability to slash to the basket and finish in high-traffic areas.
  • Terrance Lakes has caused havoc on the defensive end this season. He leads the team with nine steals and has also dished out a team-best 16 assists.
  • Teemu Tumanoff has drained nearly 56% of his three-pointers this season, converting on 10 of 18 attempts. Kyle Leslie, another efficient offensive player for D&E, leads the squad in FG% at 57.7%.
  • The Senators are still in search of a consistent rebounding presence, currently entering Saturday with a -9.0 rebounding margin. The Senators have had just one double-digit rebounding performance, with Erkam Kiris hauling in 10 against Grand Valley State. Kiris has all three of the Senators individual game-highs in the rebounding column this season.
  • Mandela Baledrokadroka has worked his way into the starting lineup, logging a starting assignment in each of the last four outings. He has dealt out multiple assists in four of five games this season.
  • Patrick Wilburn posted 11 points in 19 points against Cal U and has shot 50% from the floor twice this season. He is one of several scoring options for the Senators coming off the bench.

SCOUTING FAIRMONT STATE
  • Fairmont State is set for its third straight home game to begin the season after opening the year with wins over Millersville and Slippery Rock in the Joe Retton Classic.
  • The Falcons also played an exhibition game against Bowling Green on November 15.
  • Fairmont State was picked third in the MEC Preseason Poll after finishing the 2018-19 season with a 22-9 overall record, ultimately receiving a bid to the Atlantic Regional for the fifth time in the last seven seasons.
  • Cole VonHandorf (23.5 PPG, 2.5 RPG) is one of four players averaging double figures for the Falcons through two games.
  • Dale Bonner opened the season with 17 points, four rebounds and five assists for the Falcons against Millersville.
  • Tim Koenig was named the Falcons head men's basketball coach in late June. He took over for Joe Mazzulla, who was named an assistant coach with the NBA's Boston Celtics.
  • Fairmont will hit the road for the first time, traveling to West Virginia Wesleyan on November 26.
