Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Tennis team fell to Chowan 9-0 on Sunday to open up the spring break trip to the Palmetto state.
The Senators had a couple tight matches, with the tightest battle coming at No. 2 doubles.
Andrew Shand and
Tristram Spitsnaugle pushed Chowan's pairing of Mariano Yeh and Mateusz Izycki, before falling 8-6.
Spitsnaugle also had a tight match in singles play at the No. 4 spot. Spitsnaugle fell to Rafael Goncalves 6-4 in set one and then 6-3 in set two.
Obert Matthew Mulyadi also had a tight singles match in the No. 1 matchup. Mulyadi fell to Ghassan Alansi 6-3 in the first set but forced an extra point out of Alansi in the second set before falling 7-5.
Alejandro Meseguer fell 7-5 in his opening set of the No. 2 singles match against Adi Kaliakperov, but Meseguer fell 6-2 in the second set.
The Senators will look to rebound on Tuesday, as Davis & Elkins takes on Lawrence Tech. The match is set for a 2:45 p.m. start in Hilton Head.
