RICHMOND, Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Track & Field team set two school records and had several strong performances at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond on Friday and Saturday.
Overall, the Senators had seven top-10 finishes at the meet which was heavily stacked with Division I competition.
Daniel Jarrell led the way in finishes for the Senators, running to a second-place overall finish in the 400-meter Dash. Jarrell finished with a time of 49.24.
Jarrell also finished ninth in the 200-meter Dash, finishing with a time of 22.96.
R.J. Weiford set a school record with a fourth-place run in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. Weiford ran a 9:44.01, breaking his old record and personal best time by 32.3 seconds.
Hayden Harrison also had a strong performance in a distance event at the meet. Harrison set a school record in the 5000-meter Run, finishing seventh with a 15:14.56. Harrison's time was 2.23 seconds faster than the previous record, held by Weiford.
Matthew Chapman grabbed another top-10 finish for the Senators, running sixth in the 1500-meter Run. Chapman ran to a time of 4:02.76.
In hurdles events,
Dalton Irvine and
Issa Mouafo both finished in the top-10 at the event. Irvine ran sixth in the 110-meter Hurdles, crossing the line with a 15.67. Mouafo finished with a 56.33, running seventh overall.
The Senators will return to action in two weeks, competing in the Wesleyan Invitational on April 13. The meet, hosted at West Virginia Wesleyan College, will begin at 10 a.m. in Buckhannon.
