ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Tennis picked up a 7-2 victory Monday afternoon over Bluefield College in non-conference play.
 
The Senators swept through doubles play, winning three tight battles. Tare Mariga and Ivan Bonderanko defeated Markel Aramberi andFedor Kulakov 8-5 in the No. 1 match.
 
In the No. 2 match, Samuel Vallieres and Matthew Alexander picked up a 8-6 win over Michael Gutu and Rodrigo Huarachi.
 
Jack Clifton and Tristram Spitsnaugle also picked up a win in the No. 3 match over Yaroslav Hnatusko and Tanaka Rushwaya, winning 8-5.
 
In singles play, Bonderanko overcame a first set loss to win 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4) over Aramberi in the No. 1 match.
 
Clifton had the quickest victory of the afternoon, defeating Kulakov 6-3, 6-2.
 
Spitsnaugle earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Hnatusko and Mariga defeated Gutu 6-4, 7-5 to wrap up the victories for the Senators.
 
Davis & Elkins will return to action on Tuesday with another non-conference battle against West Liberty. The match is set for 3 p.m. at the Thomas Tennis Center.
