WISE, Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Tennis team started off its Spring Trip with an 8-1 victory over UVa-Wise on Saturday.
 
Teammates Ivan Bonderanko and Tare Mariga remained undefeated in dual match play this spring as they swept through doubles action with an 8-0 win over Andrii Rutnytskyi and Viktor Tunnikov.
 
Bonderanko then came from behind to defeat Rutnytskyi 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-2) in singles action. Mariga had an easier run in singles play, defeating Tunnikov 6-0, 6-2.
 
Samuel Vallieres and Matthew Alexander also picked up a doubles match victory, defeating Chris Armistead and Josh McFadden 8-4.
 
Alexander would go on to win 6-0, 6-1 over Daniel Laughlin in singles action.
 
Jack Clifton also earned a singles victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win over McFadden.
 
The Senators will return to action on Monday with a match against Michigan Tech at 8:30 a.m. in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
