Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Senators were sent down to nine men early and were unable to hold on as Davis & Elkins fell to Trevecca Nazarene 3-2 Thursday night.
The Senators fell to 10 men early in the game as referee Skyye Medley issued a straight red card to
Carlos Cruza on a shirt pull in open play about 10 yards outside of the box.
However, the Senators would still take the lead down a man as
Rafa Moreno banged in a rebound effort in the 42
nd minute.
The lead wouldn't last long through, as the Senators were trimmed to nine men with another straight red card for
Issa Mouafo's hand ball in the box.
Trevecca Nazarene would score on the penalty as Ethan Keogh scored to the lower left corner.
With the Senators down to nine men, the hosts would take the lead 15 seconds before halftime with Michael Jones' goal.
The Senators would still control Trevecca Nazarene at times in the second half and
Friedrich Peter would take a pass up the middle by
Abel Ameyaw and slice through the defense, spinning the center backs around, before beating Tyler Delgado to tie the game at two.
Davis & Elkins had a chance to take the lead late in the game but
Abel Ameyaw was taken down from behind on a shirt pull and tackle just outside the box that only saw yellow for Reed Coffman of Trevecca.
Fredrik Hedemark would put the free kick on frame, but Delgado was able to push it over for a corner.
With 41 seconds left, Trevecca would grab the lead and win with Reed Coffman scoring at the other end.
Hedi Mehnaoui made four saves in the game. Mouafo also chipped in with a team save before being sent off.
The Senators will look to rebound on Saturday at Kentucky Wesleyan. The game is set for a 2:30 p.m. CT start.
