Davis & Elkins College Announces 2025 Athletics Hall of Fame Class

ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College Athletics Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2025, celebrating six outstanding individuals and two legendary championship teams whose achievements left a lasting mark on Senator athletics.

The Class of 2025 includes: Megan Beal Daft '10 (women's soccer), Dave Archbold '88 (men's soccer), Guy Sievert (golf coach), Paul Ackerman '80 (baseball), Donnie MacGregor '07 (men's soccer and skiing), Katie MacGregor '08 (women's soccer and skiing), and the 1968 and 1970 NAIA National Champion men's soccer teams.

Megan Beal Daft '10 – Women's Soccer

Meg Daft was a four-year impact player for D&E women's soccer, earning All-Conference recognition three times. In her senior season she recorded 10 goals and six assists, finishing as a First Team All-Conference and All-Region honoree, while also being named a Second Team All-American. A leader on and off the field, she was a two-time Academic All-American.

Daft graduated with a chemistry degree before earning her Doctor of Pharmacy from West Virginia University. She has built a career as an antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist while remaining active in athletics as a cyclist and youth coach. Her story is one of balance — pairing athletic excellence with academic achievement and continued service to her community.

Dave Archbold '88 – Men's Soccer

Dave Archbold was a driving force for men's soccer during the mid-1980s, earning All-Conference honors in each of his four seasons, three All-Region nods, and recognition as an All-American in 1986. His consistency and skill set him apart as one of the most accomplished players of his era.

After graduation, Archbold continued his soccer journey in Ireland, competing at the semi-professional level until 1998. He later transitioned into coaching, guiding both school and national teams in Dublin. Today, he serves as Irish Schools National Secretary and sits on the FAI General Assembly, helping to shape the future of the sport across Ireland.

Guy Sievert – Golf Coach

As head coach of the D&E golf program from the mid-1970s to early 1980s, Guy Sievert built teams that regularly competed on the national stage. Under his leadership, the Senators captured two conference championships, added two runner-up finishes, and made four straight trips to the NAIA National Championships, where they twice placed in the top 20.

Sievert coached more than a dozen All-Conference players, including at least one All-American, while fostering a strong program culture. Nominated for the Hall of Fame by his former player Greg Brown '81, Sievert is remembered as both a strategist and a mentor whose impact extended beyond competition.

Paul Ackerman '80 – Baseball

Paul Ackerman was a two-year starter at catcher for the Senators, leading the team with his steady defense and reliable bat. He helped D&E capture the 1979 division championship and finished his career with a .339 batting average and .995 fielding percentage, marking him as one of the most dependable players in program history.

Following graduation, Ackerman signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, playing professionally from 1979 to 1983. He later returned to the dugout as a coach at West Virginia University, where he contributed to four Atlantic 10 titles and an NCAA Tournament appearance. A lifelong educator and coach, he was inducted into the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.

Donnie MacGregor '07 – Men's Soccer and Skiing

A rare two-sport standout, Donnie MacGregor starred for both the men's soccer and ski teams. On the pitch, he was a four-year starter and team captain, earning All-Conference recognition each season and helping lead the Senators to their first winning record in over a decade. On the slopes, he captured four Allegheny Conference titles, placed on the podium at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships every year, winning the overall title his junior year and the slalom title his senior year.

MacGregor was named Male Athlete of the Year as a freshman for his achievements across both sports and was also a two-time Academic All-American. After graduation, he pursued professional soccer overseas in Poland, Belgium, Australia, and New Zealand. Today, he is a FIFA Licensed Agent and Finance Manager in Ottawa, where he lives with his wife, fellow D&E Hall of Fame inductee Katie MacGregor, and their daughter.

Katie MacGregor '08 – Women's Soccer and Skiing

Katie MacGregor made her mark in both soccer and skiing during her tenure at D&E, following her brother Donnie as a two-sport standout. In Soccer, she was a leader on and off the field,  earning back-to-back First Team All-Conference, All- Region and Academic All-American honors in 2005-2007.  As a skier, she was a four-time Allegheny Conference leader, top regional competitor, and conference champion in 2006 and 2007, representing D&E at nationals in 2006.

MacGregor was named Female Athlete of the Year in 2006 and went on to pursue a career in medicine. After earning her M.D., she specialized in sports medicine and served as Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian National Ski Team from 2015-2020, with whom she accompanied as team physician to the 2018 Winter Olympics, continuing to live the values of excellence and service she displayed at D&E.

1968 & 1970 Men's Soccer Teams – NAIA National Champions

The 1968 and 1970 men's soccer teams gave Davis & Elkins College its first two national titles and established the Senators as a national powerhouse. Led by Head Coach Greg Myers, the 1968 team went undefeated (13-0-2) and claimed the NAIA National Championship with a 2–1 win over Quincy (IL) in five overtimes — the longest title match in tournament history at the time.

Two years later, Myers guided D&E back to the final, where the Senators defeated Quincy again, 2–0, on goals from Mike Udolfian and Bob Pigian. With back-to-back national championships in a three-year span, these teams not only defined an era of success but also cemented D&E's legacy in collegiate soccer.
