ATHENS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins College women's basketball put up a solid defensive performance but fell short in a 65-57 loss to Concord University on Saturday afternoon at the Carter Center.

The Senators (2-20, 1-15 MEC) battled throughout the contest, limiting the Mountain Lions (13-11, 9-7 MEC) to 30.6% shooting from beyond the arc, but an early deficit proved too much to overcome.

D&E trailed 24-17 after the first quarter and matched Concord's scoring output in the second (14-14) and third (12-12) quarters. Despite a strong rebounding performance, pulling down 56 boards to Concord's 51, the Senators struggled with efficiency, shooting just 25.7% (19-of-74) from the field.

Kylie Morris, LaChazity Shaver, and Briyanna Sapp each contributed nine points to lead Davis & Elkins, while Morris also grabbed eight rebounds and recorded two blocks. Jocelyn Gagnon added four points and two blocks, while Jahniya Marion led all rebounders with 10 boards.

The Mountain Lions edged the Senators in points in the paint (30-26) and points off turnovers (10-9).
