ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College women's basketball team earned a 62-49 victory over Salem (W.Va.) on Saturday afternoon at the McDonnell Center, snapping a losing streak with a strong all-around performance.
The Senators (2-16) led from the opening tip, using a balanced offensive attack to build a 35-28 halftime advantage. They extended their lead in the second half behind standout performances from Jahniya Marion, who recorded a game-high 14 points, and Kylie Morris, who was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, finishing with 12 points.
LaChazity Shaver contributed eight points, while Josiany Canales added eight points and a team-high five assists. Briyanna Sapp and Jackie Wright each chipped in seven points, with Wright also tallying a block and a three-pointer.
D&E controlled the glass, outrebounding Salem 39-31, and forced 17 turnovers while tallying 10 steals on the defensive end.
