ASHLAND, Ohio — Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team started their season off on the right foot with a 4-0 victory over Ashland University on Thursday at Ferguson Field. The Senators' offense was fueled by goals from Johan Magaña and Hugo Fauli, along with stellar play from goalkeeper Dante Ordenes.
Magaña opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, assisted by Yavi Ortiz, putting the Senators ahead early. Fauli added another in the 73rd minute, with an assist from Shemar Daley. Davis & Elkins capitalized on defensive errors and a little luck for two more goals attributed to AU deflections, sealing the victory.
Goalkeeper Ordenes was a force in net, recording three saves and keeping Ashland's 16 shots at bay for the clean sheet. Ashland's Ty Bowden made five saves but couldn't contain the Senators' attack.
