ELKINS, W. Va. -- The Davis & Elkins College women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at home against the University of Charleston in a conference matchup on Sunday afternoon at Nuttall Field.
Charleston's Juliette Lucas scored both goals in the match. She netted her first in the 15th minute from a penalty kick after a yellow card was issued to D&E sophomore defender Aly Miller. Lucas then doubled the lead in the 72nd minute, assisted by Frankie Morrow.
The Senators struggled to find their rhythm offensively, managing just four shots, three of which were on goal, but none found the back of the net. Charleston controlled the game with 16 shots, six on target.
Davis & Elkins goalkeeper Deimante Antoine made four saves, but the onslaught from Charleston was too much to overcome. The loss drops the Senators to 0-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play, while Charleston improves to 2-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the MEC.
