BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team extended their winning streak to three games, shutting out Salem University 3-0 in a dominant performance at The Bridge Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Senators opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Dominique Castano found the back of the net, assisted by Johan Magaña. The pair connected well, with Magaña setting up Castano for a clinical finish to put Davis & Elkins ahead.
Just before halftime, Magaña got his own name on the scoresheet in the 42nd minute, off an assist from Christian Tejeda. The Senators continued to control the game, entering the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
In the closing moments of the match, Francisco Lopez Kreik added the final goal in the 90th minute, assisted by Hugo Fauli, securing the 3-0 victory. Davis & Elkins dominated possession throughout the match, recording nine shots, five of which were on target.
Goalkeeper Dante Ordenes earned a clean sheet, as the Senators' defense limited Salem to just seven shots, none of which were on target. Davis & Elkins also maintained discipline at the back, recording nine fouls but avoiding any yellow cards.
