ELKINS, W. Va. -- In a closely contested match, Davis & Elkins College and Concord University battled to a 1-1 draw at Nuttall Field on Sunday afternoon.
Davis & Elkins took an early lead in the first half with a goal from freshman forward Hugo Fauli in the 27th minute, assisted by junior Joao Cavaletti. The Senators managed three shots in the half, converting one, while Concord was held scoreless despite recording six shots.
The Mountain Lions equalized in the second half when Patrick Alouidor found the net in the 62nd minute off an assist from Malher Santi Possu. Concord finished with 12 shots, five of which were on target. D&E goalkeeper Dante Ordoñes was solid in net, making four saves to help preserve the draw.
The Senators had seven shots, four on goal, but were unable to regain the lead. Both teams combined for 33 fouls in a physical match that featured three yellow cards each.
The game marked Davis & Elkins' first conference draw of the season, moving their record to 3-0-1, while Concord remained unbeaten at 2-0-1.
