West Liberty, W.Va. -- The West Liberty defense held Davis & Elkins to just 32.9% (23-70) shooting for the game on their way to a 80-57 victory over the Senators.
Marissa Berlin had a strong game for the Senators scoring 11 points and pulling down 6 rebounds.
The Hilltoppers used a strong first quarter on both ends of the floor to build a 22-8 lead. West Liberty would shoot 6-13 (46.15%) from the field in the quarter while holding Davis & Elkins to 4-16 (25%) from the field. The Hilltoppers would build their lead to 23 points with 5:22 remaining in the half but the Senators would end the half on a 13-0 run to cut the lead to 33-23.
In the third quarter the Senators would cut the lead to 8 points with 1:36 remaining before the Hilltoppers would end the quarter on a 9-0 run to lead 56-39 going into the fourth quarter. Davis & Elkins would start the fourth quarter on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 11 points but would not be able to close the gap any further the rest of the way.
Taylor Smith scored 14 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
