Men's Soccer Earns Clean Sheet at Wheeling, Downs Cardinals 4-0

WHEELING, W.Va. -- The Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team earned a dominant 4-0 victory over Wheeling University (2-11-4, 1-9-3 MEC) on Sunday at Bishop Schmitt Field in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Modou Faye opened the scoring for D&E in the 26th minute, with an assist from Kendall Pellot, putting the Senators up 1-0. Dominique Castano extended the lead just before halftime with an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute.

The Senators maintained their momentum in the second half. Hugo Fauli scored in the 47th minute, assisted by Faye, bringing the score to 3-0. Johan Magaña rounded out the scoring in the 50th minute, with Castano providing the assist.

Goalkeeper Dante Ordenes anchored the defense with four saves, earning a shutout as D&E improved to 8-5-3 on the season and 6-5-2 in the Mountain East Conference with one game left in the regular season.

This strong showing by D&E was marked by disciplined play, despite four yellow cards issued to the Senators throughout the match.

Up Next 

The Senators close out regular season play at home on Wednesday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. as they take on West Virginia Wesleyan College. D&E is currently the conference No. 4 seed, only two points behind the third seeded Frostburg State, and will host the first round of the MEC soccer tournament on November 10 at Nuttall Field.
