FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team pulled off an impressive 2-1 victory over Frostburg State (6-3-1, 4-3-1 MEC) in a thrilling match at Bobcat Stadium on October 9, 2024. The win pushed the Senators to a 5-3-2 (3-3-2 MEC) record and marked an important conference victory.
After a scoreless first half, The Senators broke through in the second half with a pair of well-placed goals. Dominique Castano struck first in the 57th minute, converting a beautifully placed assist from goalkeeper Dante Ordones and striking it into the high corner of the net. Just 13 minutes later, Johan Magana added another goal, assisted by Francisco Lopez-Kreik, putting the Senators ahead 2-1.
Despite being reduced to ten men in the 81st minute when Modou Faye received a red card, the Senators' defense held firm against a barrage of late chances from Frostburg State. With the team shorthanded, Frostburg pressed hard in the closing minutes, but goalkeeper Dante Ordones made a crucial save and the back line, led by Joao Cavaletti and Ethan Streeter, kept the Bobcats at bay.
The Senators showed tremendous resilience, fending off multiple Frostburg attacks and securing a key road win in a tense, hard-fought contest.
