Men's Soccer Shuts Out Hilltoppers 1-0

ELKINS, W. Va. -- On a cold and rainy afternoon, the Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team secured a 1-0 victory over West Liberty at Nuttall Field on Wednesday. The game's only goal came early, as Johan Magaña found the back of the net at the 12:26 mark of the first half. Magana's strike, his sixth of the season, proved to be the game-winner.

D&E (6-3-3, 4-3-2 MEC) maintained solid defensive pressure throughout the match, with goalkeeper Dante Ordenes recording three saves to earn the shutout. West Liberty (4-6-2, 2-6-1 MEC) fought hard but was unable to break through, despite 10 total shots.

The Senators managed six shots, with Magaña's goal standing as the lone shot on target. The weather conditions remained tough, as the constant rain and cold temperatures made for a challenging environment for both teams.

The game saw several fouls, including a yellow card issued to West Liberty's Zachary Forehand in the second half. Despite the physical nature of the match, Davis & Elkins held on to secure the victory, boosting their conference standing to third place behind Charleston (11-0-1, 8-0-0 MEC) and Concord (8-2-2, 7-1-2 MEC).
