Women's Soccer Downs Salem 6-0 in Homecoming Victory, Head Coach Schaeffer Secures First Win

ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College women's soccer team made Homecoming Saturday unforgettable with a commanding 6-0 victory over Salem University at Nuttall Field. The victory marked the first win at D&E for Head Coach Keenan Schaeffer, as the Senators overwhelmed the Tigers (0-11) with a relentless offensive performance, outshooting Salem 32-1.

D&E struck first in the 11th minute when Rylie Galterio netted her second goal of the season, assisted by Alexa Karsel. The Senators doubled their lead in the 28th minute when Taytum Walls found the back of the net following a set-up by Frederique Morin

In the second half, the Senators continued their dominance. Karsel scored in the 64th minute with another assist from Morin, followed by Alena Armstrong's goal in the 74th minute. Madeline Veser quickly converted a penalty kick moments later, and Kristia Kouppi completed the scoring in the final minute, assisted by Veser.

Monica Birkelund secured the shutout for D&E, making one save on Salem's lone shot of the match.

With the victory, the Senators improve to 1-9-1 (0-7-1 MEC) on the season, while Coach Schaeffer celebrates his first win at the helm.
