INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins a West Virginia State played a fairly even match through much of Wednesday evening's Mountain East Conference contest. The Yellow Jackets scored two late goals to add to a first half goal to put a lopsided 3-0 score on the board.
The first half was particularly tight. D&E outshot State 8-6 and had more corner kick opportunities (4 to 1). The Senators had 3 shots on goal to State's 2 in the first half as well.
West Virginia State scored the game's first goal on an Esther Dhiramo penalty kick in the twenty-fourth minute and took a 1-0 advantage into the second half.
The Yellow Jackets took the shooting advantage in the second half, 11 to 4 and Ammy Mwasambu scored a late goal in the eight-fourth minute on a Naomi Waithira assist.
Then with only seconds remaining, Mwasambu scored again on an assist supplied by Paula Herold.
