AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Davis & Elkins was unable to muster much offense in its first three games of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational during the Senators spring break trip. D&E fell in the first game, 27-0 to Lewis University, 16-2 to Minnesota Crookston in the second game, and 4-0 to Minnesota Crookston in the third game on Monday.
GAME ONE
Six different D&E pitchers saw action against Lewis to attempt to slow the Flyers' offense.
Lewis got out to a fast start, scoring six runs in the first three innings and after five innings, the Senators found themselves down sixteen.
Zachary McGillan was saddled with the loss for the Senators.
GAME TWO
In D&E's second game of the Invitational, Minnesota Crookston jumped out to a 5 run lead before D&E scored in the bottom of the second. D&E's score came when
Gavin Hartman singled to center field, scoring
Aydin Zimmerman.
The Golden Eagles scored three more runs in the top of the third inning and another in the top of the fourth. Minnesota Crookston led 9-1.
Crookston scored seven more runs in the top of the sixth inning and then
Cort Kegley scored for D&E in the bottom of the sixth on a Zimmerman RBI and the game ended 16-2.
Hartman, Kegley, and Hyde each picked up hits for D&E. Zimmerman and Hartman batted in runners and Zimmerman and Kegley scored runs.
Jake Garrett registered the loss for the Senators.
GAME THREE
D&E was again unable to score a run in Monday's game against Minnesota Crookston. The Golden Eagles scored runs in the second, third, fourth, and seventh innings.
Larry Kusan and Zimmerman went 3 for 4 at bats.
Wesley Athey,
Fletcher Hindman, and Hartman had hits in the contest.
Jake Spearen picked up the loss on the mound.
