ELKINS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins earned a split with Notre Dame College and their first win of the season in chilly temperatures on Monday afternoon.

Game One:
The team got off to a cold start as they gave up three unanswered runs in the first inning. Three scoreless innings kept the game within reach, 3-0.

D&E gave up two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to give the Falcons a 5-0 advantage.

Cort Kegley and
Dezmon Johnson gave the Senators a little life when Kegley singled and later scored on a Johnson RBI single.

Notre Dame knocked in a pair of runs in the sixth to finish out the first game of the homestand 7-1.

Matthew Colon was saddled with the loss for D&E.

Game Two: Â
D&E played an inspired second game with late game heroics. Both squads were held scoreless through three innings and Notre Dame jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth.

After a pair of batters were walked,
Zach Owens hit a single bringing Wes Athey home and moving
Jake Spearen to second. Johnson was next up to the plate and forced a Notre Dame resulting in
Jake Spearen running home and advancing Zack Owens to third. After being caught stealing home, Zack Owens exited the field with
Dezmon Johnson still on second and
Larry Kusan up at bat. Notre Dame again committed an error that allowed Johnson to find his way home to give D&E the 3-2 win, their first of the season.

Zachary McGillan pitched five solid innings for the Senators and
Malakai Webb pitch the final two to pick up the win.
