SALEM, W.Va. -- The Davis & Elkins women's basketball team went to overtime on the road and was able to pull out a one-point victory, 62-61 to give the Senators their second straight win on the season.
The Senators, led by
Taylor Smith's season-high 22 points, rushed out to a 30-19 first half lead only to see the Tigers chip away at the lead throughout the second half.
Salem outscored the Senators in the third quarter 16-10 and in the fourth 17-12 to close the gap and tie the score 52 all at the end of regulation.
In overtime, D&E was one point better, 10-9, and it was Smith's layup with :35 remaining that put D&E on top for good.
Smith added, 4 rebounds and 3 steals to go along with her 22 points performance.
Jackie Wright added 9 points for the Senators and 12 rebounds.
Kaylee Milburn gave D&E 8 points in the scorebook.
LaChazity Shaver added 7 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal.
Jaela Reid chipped in 6 points, 3 rebounds, and a block.
Alexis Smith added 5 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist.
Angel Broaddus added 3 points, while
Madison Butler scored 2 and had 4 rebounds.

D&E plays at Morehead State on Monday, December 18 at 2pm and then following the holiday break, they host Fayetteville State on Saturday, December 30 at 2pm.
